Cuisine
BurrBrook Haven supports locally produced organic and/or free-range chemically free meats and produce. All meals are homemade from the finest ingredients. The food is fresh and of the highest quality. Short term guests have breakfast included. Long term guests have a three meal option. Open to special needs or vegan/vegetarian on request.
Coffee and teas are fair-trade, organic, and environmentally sensitive. Muffins, scones, crepes, biscuits, breads and desserts are made from organic flours and grains. Lorraine and Janice make their own granola and offer a variety of alternatives to dairy. Herbs, seasonal vegetables and fruit are mainly from the garden.
Breakfast
A variety of rotating selections including cereal, yogurt, eggs, toast, jam, peanut butter, muffins, rolls, crepes, scones, seasonal fresh fruit, coffee, herbal and regular tea, juice, milk, and cream.
Lunch
Guests pack their own lunch from the fridge and pantry. Ingredients may include prepared salads (egg, salmon, tuna), cold cuts, peanut butter and jam, veggies and breads. Yogurt, fruit, cookies are also available to pack. Lunch bags provided.
Dinner
Dinners are on 4-week rotation consisting of beef, pork, fish and poultry. Side dishes include a variety of vegetables, salads, and potatoes, rice, or pasta. Savory soups, whole grain breads and baguettes accompany. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. but can be kept in the warming oven.
